Hearing from God

Revelation 3:20

“Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with me.”

Individual believers think that God only speaks to preachers or people that are spiritual and not to them. The same way a father talks to all his children and not just one child, that’s how God speaks to all his children as well. There is nothing God wants more dearly than for His children to know His will and His words. So, if you haven’t been hearing from God, align your life with the Holy Spirit and begin to enjoy undiluted messages from God.

We all have an innate desire to know the right path to follow in any decision we are about to take. The question is, how can you be sure of what ‘right’ is? How can you spot when God is speaking to you? What does it even sound or look like? This is not so complex as believers take it to be. Once you grasp God’s divine love for you and how He wants to have a hand in your life, you start to hear His still, small voice and experience his hand in your doings. God has promised to lead His children by His Spirit and allow us to discern His voice. When you learn to align with God’s voice, it would no longer be an occasional event but an everyday event. It’s for this reason that Jesus Christ said in the New Testament, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear,” fifteen different times. As a believer, if you’re not hearing from God, you’re spiritually deaf.

Jeremiah 29:13

“And you will seek for Me and find Me when you seek me with all your heart.” (ESV).

Is it possible to listen to the radio or watch the television without turning it on? Of course not! The question now is, do you want to hear from God? You need to want it deep within. And are you connected to the Holy Spirit? God communicates to our spirit through His Spirit, and then your spirit communicates what you hear to your mind. That’s why it’s called an inward witness. That’s more reason to spend time with God and practice tuning to His voice; the more it will become a voice that “thunders wondrously” (Job 37:5, ESV)

Prayer: Father Lord, I thank you for always been there when I need you, thank you for sending your Son to die for us, and thank you for leaving us the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, come and have your way in my life, purge me that I may be a vessel unto honor set for the master’s use. Lord, I ask that you continue to speak to me and through me, I pray that you open my ears to hear from you and you open my eyes of understanding to be able to discern and follow your voice; in Jesus Name, Amen.
